In this screencast I cover preparing a file in photoshop to be used in illustrator to create a bezier shape to use in after effects as a mask. I also show you a quick demonstration on how you can manipulate those masks for some cool animations. Imagine how you could implement some cool effects.

You can see how I used this technique in the motion project below. I used the radio waves effect in After Effects with the masks to create this nice smoke effect.

I needed a break from working on this project and found it to be a great opportunity to show you a little bit of my workflow in After Effects. I cover precomposing to make organizing files and manipulating them as a group a whole lot easier. I also show you how small keyframe tweaks can really give character and life to your animation.
